Power Law Distribution: Bernardo Huberman says the distribution of Web site links follows a power law, meaning that there are very small numbers of sites with very large collections of links, and a very large number of sites with few links.

I'm guessing that the distribution of printing companies by income follows the same pattern: there are 51,000 printers in North America, the largest are multi-billion dollar concerns, but a printer could make the recently published top 400 list with only $10 million in annual revenue. So there are very few, very large printers, and large numbers of very small ones. Frank Romano probably has this info...

Digital Object Identifiers, aka DOI, are examples of URIs that uniquely identify intellectual property on the Internet. DOIs allow computers to 'syndicate, track, compute royalties, clear rights, enforce copyrights and commission'. The DOI is a unigue 'dumb' number with a routing prefix assigned by a registrar. The registrar maintains servers, much like DNS, that tell the browser what to do with DOI, where it's located, what it's behavior should be. Only let reader see it on Tuesdays?
