So this whole walk down memory lane got started yesterday when friend Josh Levy, just back from Cambodia and Thailand, came over to use my Nikon film scanner.
I hadn't used the machine in a long time, and its software was way out of date. Josh, who is one of those guys who is as competent technically as he is esthetically, spent the morning finding patches and updates, got the scanner going and scanned in his stuff, while I was helping a researcher find Bellows pictures.
So I came out of the garage with a couple of envelopes full of negatives, including this 1979 snap of chanteuse Bonnie Raitt whose music I love (and upon whom I have had a lifelong crush). This neg was scanned with VueScanX, an OS X native scanner utility that works with my old Nikon LS-30 SCSI film scanner (look carefully you'll see a watermark, I haven't bought the software yet). If only it worked with my Canon flatbed...
