Why I become a photographer: I was always a nerdly kind of kid, and am now happily thriving in Silicon Valley - so me first becoming a photographer, a style- and fashion-oriented photographer at that, may seem a bit strange.
The story is that I had a great art teacher, guy named Bill Moos, at Western Reserve Academy, a fine then-boys school in Hudson, Ohio (amazingly, they gave me a full scholarship, but that's another tale).
Moos' teaching - he had a fine appreciation of light - and encouragement were key. But, the capper was that senior year we were shown the film 'Blow Up', Antonioni's arty epic set in 60s London. I was riveted by the glamour and cool, and decided then and there to become a photographer. And no regrets, either for having spent 20 years as a photographer or for having left it for high tech...
