 More on the chicken front: Linda's final stop on Saturday's birthday surprise was The Inn at Occidental, a very pretty Sonoma Co. B&B. And, no sooner had we arrived but this fine foul greeted us in the parking lot. Clearly, chickens were the theme Saturday...Comments 10:57:03 AM

 Chicken Run: one stop on my weekend kidnap was friend (and former colleague of Linda's) Bart Rawlinson's home near Forestville in Sonoma County. Bart keeps chickens (about 20) and a dog, Buster Beaseley, who is smaller than the the chickens. Some of his hens lay eggs with a pretty pale green shell. Half a dozen of Bart's eggs came home with us... made a fine breakfast this morning...Comments 10:51:37 AM

Spent an hour in the garden this morning. Beets, kholrabi, chard, early tomatoes, sweet peas and some herbs went in - cool weather stuff mainly (spouse Linda warned she heard that another cold storm is on the way). Four of the eight boxes are now planted. Cassie the dog helped and insisted we take a 15-minute break to play chase-the-ball... Comments 10:39:10 AM
