 Work continues on gulker.com's 'World Headquarters'. Today, Felipe Bustos, our gardener, who's in charge of re-landscaping, dropped off a guy with a pick to dig out the old turf and the extensive tree roots. Guy worked hard, swinging that pick non-stop for 8 hours. Not sure I could swing a pick for 8 hours...Comments 6:20:06 PM

Speaking of Vintage Macs, on my 'lunch break' today I opened my broken Mac SE. I had to make 2 tools just to open the box, a long shafted Torx T-15 driver and a CRT discharge tool. I then referred to the Mac SE fix-it page, where my SE's problem (dark screen, clicking sound, no boot) was diagnosed as usually a failure of a couple of diodes or a power transistor, which often display heat damage. The diodes and transistor look fine, no sign of melting, charring etc., but the flyback transformer has some white, powdery corrosion along a heavy bare wire at the top. Before I start replacing components, anybody have experience with SE30 analog board problems...? Comments 3:35:43 PM

 An Apple I will be auctioned on the Web by the Vintage Computer Festival this weekend. Only about 50 of the 200 originally produced (at a price 0f $666.66) are thought to survive, and the machines have brought as much as $50,000 in the past, according to Wired.
