And the latest startup is (drumroll, please) - Ventanis which makes software for venture capitalists. Founder and CEO is Deborah Wright, formerly a partner and CFO at Hummer Winblad, and a VP at Goldman Sachs before that.
The market really needs this thing (Rafe Needleman quipped "Where were you guys in '98 and '99 ?" when I pitched him) it's like a dashboard for a startup - so management and investors can see exactly what's going on.
Ventanis automates the upload of most of the financial data, so it's easy - and the reporting is very clear. We've show it to more than 20 VCs so far, closed one deal and have a couple test installs under way - and we haven't officially launched, yet.
I've read that if only 1% more small companies made it to mid-size ($25 million in revenues), it would double the U.S. economy. I guess we're all seeing just how important VC is to the economy: when VC tanks, the whole thing tanks. I'm VP of Sales and Marketing... of course I couldn't resist the challenge of marketing to people who say 'no' for a living. ..
