Windows 2000 is cheaper than Linux in a report commissioned by - hold thy breath - Microsoft. Actually, the IDC report says Linux is cheaper for Web hosting, Win 2K is cheaper for print and file service and they're pretty close for other uses. Big difference? Linux admin costs are higher... gotta wonder if the report factors in reboots and lost data...San Jose Merc story is here. The source for the data is 104 corporations... and the numbers are close...
