Is Spring the next GUI for OSX? The Register's Andrew Orlowski thinks so. Spring eschews windows and files and folders for a more free-form system that lets you associate things - like people, places and applications - that make sense to you, rather than the computer. Also been hearing that awesome new Mac hardware is due out in the spring... maybe IBM's new Power chips?

No sooner did I get a security reminder from Rackspace, the Texas outfit that hosts Ventanis, my company's server, that the holidays alway see a rise in security problems, than my firewall began sending me messages (at 5 minute intervals starting at 4:00 AM) that gulker.com's servers appear to be under a DDoS attack.

A new 'blog: friend Joshua Levy has just started Shua, his blog. Josh is a very talented guy, in my experience, both left- and right-brain. Formerly a webmaster and product manager at Blue Martini, he left Silicon Valley for Hollywood, where, after a stint at film school, he's now working as an editor and sound designer - his blog links to some of his music video creations. I've often admired Josh-designed Web sites: he has a talent for using space in interesting ways... look forward to his dynamic media phase...

Google Webquotes: just found this interesting page on Google while researching robot traffic on my blog. It's a search page that finds quotes about whatever name you type in. Is this new or just something I missed...?
