 The big hike: Linda, Cassie the Australian Shepherd and I set out to beat the big storm front moving in to the Bay Area (that's Linda and Cassie in the photo). The first 4.5 miles were fun: blustery, but spectacular views as we climbed from Palo Alto's Arastradero Preserve up to Los Alto Hills' Byrne Preserve. But, as Murphy would have it, the rain started just as we hit the farthest point of the loop. The hike back featured driving rain, snow, sleet and other 'atmospherics'. Three drowned rats gratefully clambered back into the car, turned the heater to high and drove home...Comments 7:48:05 PM
