What a year so far: first, a switch fails, then DSL goes down for a week, then my hardware firewall failed. When I finally got everything replaced and reconfigured, my Net service was bad - I was blaming XO, my ISP, until I discovered that a name server had been compromised by the Slapper Apache worm and was running an IRC bouncer as well as scanning for HTTP servers and occassionally doing something that looked like a DoS attack. Sheesh... it took days to re-do the name server and check everything else to make sure it hadn't been hacked.
So today, my Airport hub failed. It's just sitting there with one red light on, and no traffic moving... guess I gotta dig out the docs and figure out what's going on. The filter capacitors failed last year, but I replaced 'em... and the LED behavior is different. So our wireless Webcams are down (the garden cam needs to be replaced, anyway). |
