Spaceflight Now is running a shuttle information Weblog. Current info includes a report that foam from the external tank struck the shuttle's wing on launch:
"As we now look at that in hindsight, that impact was with the left wing" and the signs of problems today are all on that wing. [Shuttle program manager Ron] Dittemore says NASA "cannot discount there might be a connection" but there shouldn't be a "rush to judgement."
"The first indication was loss of temperature sensors on the left wing," he said. "They were followed seconds and minutes later by several other problems, including loss of tire pressure indications on the left main gear and then indications of excessive structural heating."
