Old line airlines: I emailed Dave Winer to say that we were in Boston this weekend, to see if Harvard's newest prof wanted to get together. Dave emailed that he was on his way back to California.
Dave notes he had a rotten time with American Airlines and is switching to Jet Blue. Linda and I had our United flight cancelled (likely because it wasn't full), and then wound up being seated in separate rows on the later flight (we both fly more than 60,000 miles, sometimes 100,00 miles a year on United).
We checked one bag between us, and they charged us $25 for being 5 lbs over weight, even though we were way under the weight for 2 peole ("You can go home and repack in 2 suitcases" offered the agent). We'd have been both really cranky, but Linda was next to a precocious 10-year-old flying alone, and they played dolls and had a good time together. Old line airlines are like the RIAA and MPA: dinosaurs complaining about the meteors... I'll be reading dave's Jet Blue experience with great interest...
