Hiking Boston's Freedom Trail was our big project today. We started out at Boston Common, in 14-degree weather, under the spire of the Park Church, next to the Granary Cemetery where rest John Hancock, Paul Revere, Samuel Adams and the victims of the Boston Massacre.
From there we walked North, past King's Chapel, Old South Meeting House, the Old State House and Faneuil Hall (do you say 'Fannel' or 'Fan-you-all'), where we saw these charming wooden pets. We went past the Big Dig and up to the North End.
Linda posed by the statue of Paul Revere on the way to Old North Church, just as she did when her parents brought her here as a little girl. Then we crossed the Charleston Bridge over the frozen inner harbor and up to Bunker Hill, then down to The Constitution.
We finished up by taking the T to Somerville and eating lunch at The Burren, a pub that has Irish music every day (and good, cheap food, too). We walked a bit more than 5 miles...
