SpaceShipOne, Burt Rutan's latest, a suborbital, reusable space craft was recently unveiled (picture shows White Knight - the aircraft that carries the spacecraft to high altitude for launch). Rutan uses a Mac... one of his early designs used a PowerBook running OS 7.x to control the aircraft... made Mac OS engineers nervous...

"Remember the feeling of wild surmise when you first mentally glimpsed the possibilities of HyperCard or Apple events? NoteTaker is like that." Matt Neuburg writing on TidBits about NoteTaker. Notetaker is one of two OS X descendents of a legendary NeXT app called Notebook.

Pew Project on the war and the Internet: " We found record-levels of people going online for news, relying on the Internet for news, and email activity related to news. We also found some pretty interesting differences in Internet use between war supporters and war opponents." The report can be found at:

Big events bring the realization that media have changed: I remember, as a schoolboy when Kennedy was assassinated, we rushed to turn on a TV... this time we rushed to the Web... Pew also reported earlier that 4% of Net surfers reported using Weblogs as news sources, as I recall...

Can Apple Corner Music Market? Apple's online service would sell Mac users songs from top record labels and integrate seamlessly with iPod players and iTunes software, insiders say. [Update: Apple has scheduled an announcement for next Monday that it says "will be music to your ears".]Yup! Jobs is a deal maker, witness his 'reverse takeover' of Apple... My guess is he has big plans and the record companies should be looking over their shoulder...

No luck whatsoever finding the Madonna spoof, but some porn spammers have capitalized on the interest and put up URLs and HTML pages on P2P networks titled 'How to download Madonna spoof', which, of course, redirect to a porn site. Those guys are quick...

Is Madonna's spoof MP3 more popular than her new album cuts? After it was reported that Madonna's record company had flooded file sharing services with the chanteuse's foul-mouthed tirade against file traders (aka 'fans') disguised as her latest release, many observers went hunting for the spoof (as chronicled at Ars Technica). Confess I looked for it on LimeWire, only to get a bunch of rather uninteresting songs (since deleted)... I'm not a fan...
