Roger has moved his blog to Moveable Type: OK, OK, I know MT and its easy-to-use offshoot Typepad are good. Lots of you-all have told me that. And Roger's still annoyed that Radio crashed, badly, and took all of his blog with it. But I'm a Radio/Manilla guy, OK? I like 'em, I love the scripting-language-cum-database internals and I ain't budging. OK? Easier to argue my politics and religion with me than platform choice... Comments 8:45:42 PM

RIAA members use P2P download stats to boost sales according to this month's print edition of Wired. Studios pay a company called Big Champagne $40,000 a month for statistics on the number of downloads, and what's in file-swappers shared folders in national media markets. This isn't a narc service like Media Defender et al. - the companies use this data to influence radio station play lists. Sort of puts the lie to RIAA's contention that file sharing services have no legitimate uses except piracy... Comments 5:22:46 PM

12-year-old defense fund: tonight, when I get back from meetings, I'm going to try to find out where to send a check to help with the $2000 RIAA 'settlement' imposed on the 12 year old girl. I am still seething... these guys couldn't have asked that she write an essay 'Why file sharing is bad' and read it to her class? I will never buy a CD or DVD from these creeps, again...
