Mars fossil? Space.com offers, as a sidebar, this Opportunity Rover micrograph. There is clearly a spiral shaped object in one of the crevices of this rock, called McKittrick, which was ground and photographed on Sol 30 (January 25 - today is Sol 38). Scientists announced today that there is strong evidence that this rock and others near Opportunity were once submerged in water. Surprising that there's been so little media attention...

Apple RSS Feeds: Apple put up a page listing their RSS feeds. Many of them are already in NetNewsWire’s Sites Drawer, but not the latest-downloads-by-category feeds. I like the Apple iTunes top-o'-the-charts feed... BTW, NetNewsWire is a staple here at gulker.com... recommended...

For the rest of us who are looking on, from near and far, the continuing spectacle produces a kaleidoscopic range of responses. Many people are stirred and gratified by the welcoming of gay couples into an expanded wedding tent. Many are offended and enraged by what they see as a tawdry charade. Many more are torn by ambivalent feelings, a kind of internal strife that brings unexamined assumptions, embedded cultural values, long-dormant religious training, superstition and deeply personal experience swarming to the surface. Thoughful piece, well worth reading...
