Even virtual moving days are no fun: it turned out I had 9 accounts at Network Solutions, and their ID system means you have to first find old email to get account numbers and reset the password for each one to find out what's in the account, a time-consuming process, even when their system works, which isn't always the case.
Anyway, we are finally merged down to one account, and a couple weird accounts that won't go away or tell me what they're for. So that means we could reset DNS data, which means gulker.net and other domains should start pointing to the new service in the next day or so.
And there are still some big directories of photos and such that need to move to the new site: it's very slow over the XO 144K line, so will wait until XO goes down, and then move the old server to the LAN where I can take advantage of Comcast's greater upload speed.
But now, I have a bunch of homeless servers: everything public's moved to an Xserve at Server Logistics. I'll be putting everything on the internal LAN, and am wondering what to do with my garage 'rack' full of rag-tag machines. SETI@home farm? Protein folding?
