We're buying a PowerPC Mac: the chip has just loomed so large in my high-tech life, hadda do it. I've bought 'em, used 'em on deadline and marketed 'em through Apple's dark days. I'm an unlikely Xbox customer, so a new (dual CPU) PowerMac it is (and this will be the first time I've ever bought the top-of-the-line Mac for myself). Some midle-age guys take up with a mistress, or buy a Porsche, or both.
Moi, I'm buying one of the last great PowerPC Macs. Spouse is not even complaining (presumably, she sees mistresses and Porsches as a lot messier and more expensive than computers). By the time this machine gets long in the tooth, Apple's Intel machines may be debugged and ready for prime time. But what am I going to do with all this CPU power and FSB bandwidth...? Hmmmm...
