 The Begijnhof, a courtyard and chapel in the heart of Amsterdam, was described by friend Roger Ridey as 'a sea of peace and tranquility in the heart of a bustling city.' Roger, who lives near London with his wife and son, has been a great resource on previous trips to Europe. The Begijnhof is the historic home of the Beguines, an order of women founded in 1150 who lived in a religious community. The last Beguine, Sister Antonia, died in 1971.
