Recommended for ages 10 and up: stepson John arrived on Father's day with a large box tucked under his arm. It was an Estes Hydrogen Fuel Rocket kit, which includes a battery power supply, a chamber for water doped with citric acid, a reactor that makes hydrogen and oxygen from the water mix, and an igniter coil that causes the fuel mix to combust, launching the lightweight plastic rocket. There's also some cool LED's and a fire button on a long cord.
Linda blogged our efforts yesterday and she seemed to be very amused by the sight of husband and son on hands and knees tinkering with this thing: suffice to say we had a ball putting it together and launching a couple of rockets. John really knows how to please the old stepfather...
