Sad news from Canterbury: Rowan Williams, archbishop of Canterbury, has apparently decided the church shall split. Despite our backpedaling on gay clergy, and implied acceptance of the sad bigotry of our 'conservative' brethren, it would seem our embrace of all God's children (and. likely, female presiding bishop-elect) is too much for Canterbury. My communion, the Episcopal church, will likely become a 'church in association' of the Anglican communion ('without decision-making status' according to the New York Times).
So be it. If the choice is Christ's path - an embrace of all in God's creation - or Canterbury's - the Church's looming official relegation of the most unloved among us to its new ghetto - then, the decision is simple. I choose Christ, not Canterbury. It's very hard to be a true Christian...
