Gulker Labs

If Google can do it…

Over the years (since 1995 anyway, when gulker.com launched) we’ve been ginning up projects, usually based on relatively accessible, if new, technology.

Indeed, the first project was www.gulker.com itself. Hosted on an 128K ISDN line and a 66-MHz Apple Workgroup server running Mac OS 7.5 and serving pages via a CGI driving Userland Frontier. I wrote my own blog-like (weblog was not a word then) software in Frontier for posting news of the gulker.com experiment.

So, here’s a list of the projects, best as I can remember:

1995 www.gulker.com

1996 gulker.com cam (aka ‘kittycam‘), Software Agents

1997 LA Herald Examiner Home Page & Forum (mostly offline)

1999 RAIC (Redundant Array of Inexpensive Computers)

2000 Cheap Racks, The Wireless MP3 demo and BBQ

2002 Dotcom Garden

2004 Lightweight Content Management System

2006 p2, aka the Paperless Project, WordPress

And more yet to come…
