MPAA and Free Speech: "We're all for it when its our right to free speech."
From an MPAA press release:
'Jack Valenti today hailed a unanimous ruling by the California Court of Appeals: “This is a tremendous victory not only for the studios involved in the case, but for anyone who values the rights granted by the First Amendment.” '
So, is that only movie studios who deserve 1st Amendment protection? What about programmers? You might also be interested in a Jack Valenti treatise on the 'moral imperative' in society... we all know what authorities on morality movie studios constitute... |

Hollywood vs. Free Speech: The Merc has a story about the Hollywood lobby's attempts to limit free speech on the Net. "Hollywood has heavyweight backing in the case, including companies like Ford Motor, AOL-Time Warner and Boeing that warn free speech protections, in this instance, should be trumped by trade secret protections..."
