Welcome to the the new look www.gulker.com blog. After more than 4 years on the old blue-and-white theme, we’ve decided to make a change. And more than the look and feel has changed.
We’ve also moved from the venerable, ahead-of-its-time (but, now, no longer actively developed) Radio Userland to the very nice open source WordPress. If you’ve been reading the beta blog, you’ll have read the details. Debug we must!
So, now were moving to beta 2, the public beta, with the MySQL- and php-driven blog posts and pages. The old blog is here, and you can navigate the archives here.
My experience so far is that the database-driven, render-on-the-fly pages load faster than the old systems’ flat html pages. Amazing news for us ‘old-timers:’ render-on-the fly gives us lots of interesting options. Learning more about php should open up even more interesting options (I think I’m among the last Userland Frontier hackers).
