Memories of Pasadena’s morning palms

These palms greeted us as we stumbled out on to the streets of Pasadena for a jog this A.M. We’re in town for the wedding of friends Anne Petersen and Stuart Coxhead (pictured, left), and staying at the Ritz Carlton, formerly the Huntington Sheraton. The old Huntington looms in our family legend. It was the scene of family dinners and evening garden walks and cocktails with friends in its stately bars when Linda and I lived in South Pasadena 17 years ago.
So this morning we jogged out and picked up our old long weekend route around Huntington Gardens and through San Marino’s Lacy Park, where a new (to us) weekend scheme of locked gates managed to ‘trap’ us briefly in that pretty space. This old part of Pasadena appears to have changed little: it lacks the plethora of construction sites visible in Menlo Park and environs. Linda commented that it was fun to come back after 17 years and just pick up where we left off…
