Stanford’s Hoover Tower was glowing faintly in the sunrise this morning, with a full moon floating picturesquely above. An airplane is caught winging through the upper left corner.
I stopped on our jog, and steadied the Pentax Optio-X on a light pole to get this 1/8 second exposure (at f2.6) with minimal shake. The lens was zoomed to 5.8mm, the eqivalent of a 35mm wideangle on a 35mm format. Our Lumix FX-9, still in the shop after Linda tumbled down a sandy slope with camera in hand, has an image stabilizer built in.
The image quality possible with these tiny cameras is impressive, though I’m not sure they are built to take the rigors of daily use. The Pentax has been in the shop twice…
