Day 5: chemo starts

Well, I took Zofran, not quite an hour ago, and next up is the Temodar, the actual chemotherapy drug. The Zofran is meant to control nausea, and the Temodar should cross the blood-brain barrier and make things tougher on the glioma than on the rest of my body, although I guess it kind of knocks my whole immune system down. Temodar is supposed to be good as chemo drugs go: only 36% of patients have nausea according to UCSF’s info sheet. I’ve been nailed by virtually every side effect of the anti-convulsants: I’m hoping for better on the Temodar. Fingers crossed: five minutes to Temodar ingestion

Best of luck, we’re all thinking of you. It’s heartening to read about your treatment progressing.

Yes, add my wishes for the best as you interact with these chemos.

The branding seems a bit appropriate for the sci-fi air about all this very real match-up . . . the Mevatron/Zofran/Temodar alliance battling the evil glioma across the blood/brain barrier. What a plotline! Victory to the alliance!

Best also for boosting that immune system nutritionally from the side effects of chemo. Marinated garlic cloves and Sicilian spiced olives could come your way if you’ve the stomach for them. And there are appetite boosters . . .

    We’re rootin’ for ya . . .
