The crack of dawn…

Wednesdays have been our one of our more challenging, if ultimately enjoyable, commutes to work@Adobe days. An 8:00 AM meeting, scheduled in part so teams in India can participate by phone and video, means I need to start the pleasant walk from home to the Stock Farm Marguerite stop shortly after 6:00 AM.
I’m a morning guy, so getting up early isn’t really the problem it can be for some folks I know. Starting at 6:00 this morning meant walking under beautifully clear and starlit skies to the shuttle, and watching the sky turn from a deep rose to ever lighter shades from the Palo Alto train station (Linda has a very pretty dawn picture featuring a wild oak, taken at very nearly the same time I would guess). The 6:49 train was right on time, and a big group descended at San Jose Diridon Station and walked the path toward the VTA station that spans the 6 tenths of a mile into Adobe’s grounds.
A very pleasant walk took me past past the newly laid out Guadalupe River Parkway and through McEnery park, before taking the back stairs to Cafe Adobe, snagging a bran muffin and then heading to my office with enough time to start the coffee, get my CPU set up and check voice mail and email before heading into the 8 AM. As usual, colleague Steve Snell had beat me - he often comes in early to get things done before the day’s distractions start.
We chit-chatted as we both checked email on our laptops, before realizing that no one else was showing up for our meeting - neither in person or on phone or video. We began to suspect that dread Outlook artifact that particularly plagues Mac users around here: the dead meeting. Going back through email, I spotted a half-dozen ‘cancel meeting’ emails, sitting unprocessed in my inbox (they normally just process themselves). Even after accepting all the cancelations, my schedule contained a raft of light gray meeting blocks, which I suspect are dead, but can’t really be sure…
