ATVS at Pismo beach

One end of Pismo Beach has a pier, and feels like a classic California beach town full of funky dives, surf shops, alll kinds of interesting little restaurants, et al. The other end has dunes where, for a fee, you can drive your 4-wheel-drive truck, ATV or Dune Buggy. Some of the dunes are also set apart for walkers, a good thing.

Many of the participants on the vehicle end had a monster truck, hitched to an RV-like trailer which might also be towing a dune buggy and/or ATV. I can’t imagine you’d get more than 3 to 5 MPG towing the whole rig. Linda took our tiny Ford Escape Hybrid out among the giant Dodges and Fords and did just fine fording streams and rolling along the beach - she was actually pretty excited. It was a whole new culture for me… mom, dad and children alll seemed to be involved…
