High clouds caught the rising sun this A.M., as Cassie and I did our .5 mile spin. I appreciate that this blog is often a record of the walk that dog and man essay around 7:00 A.M. – our blog ‘modus operandi,’ to which we addd our current thoughts about chemo, body et al. What a mix…!
We are going to try to walk both ways from train station to/from Adobe today, which, if we make it, will make for 1.7 miles in our continuing effort to get our leg muscles’ strength back.
The big frustration du jour is the edema (we are pretty sure it’s edema, an artifact of radiation therapy in December, and not the currently declining tumor), or brain swelling, that, at the moment, limits the left leg’s mobility. The swelling blocks neurons from ‘talking’ to the muscles, and muscles thus blocked don’t respond to exercise. Some of the ‘workaround’ muscles may get stronger, as will muscles in the right leg, but we really need the edema to go away so we can get our left leg back, and that is just a waiting game, I’m told. I can’t tell you how hard it is just getting socks on when muscles won’t cooperate…
