4-mile walk to Parc des Buttes Chaumonts

This morning’s challenge was a not-quite-4-mile, uphill walk from Place des Vosges to the Parc des Buttes Chaumont, a charming Hausmann-era park that occupies high ground northeast of the center of Paris. Sweet spouse Linda walked slowly, neither breathing hard or breaking a sweat as I made my way, doing both.
Good exercise for me, and I loved seeing the neighborhoods: a row of restaurants, mostly kosher; a garment district full of shops featuring cheap and brightly colored clothing, much as you see on Manhattan’s West side in the lower 30s; another row of restaurants, this time Halal; a gentrifying neighborhood with realtors walking up and down, inspecting buildings; streets where women in bright and flowing robes cut dashing figures. Did I mention I love walking Parisian neighborhoods…?

[…] That worked for a while (fortunately, for a couple of glorious days in Paris) before the steroids stared killing muscle strength faster than they were stopping the brain edema that was shutting down the left side. So we were both on high doses of steroids and immobile. Yuk. […]
