Kay’s Roses
…continue to make the kitchen a very pleasant place to be. The fragrance is amazing….
Lists
Busy weekend, had lots of things to do. As mentioned yesterday, I find that I am just not as fast as once I was: physically I’m slower, which affects the pace at which I can get chores done, but I fear there’s some missing mental acuity as well (which also slows us down).
So, sometimes, I [...]
A pleasant walk starts a busy Sunday
Linda and Cassie and I set off on a walk after breakfast - I walked about 1 3/4 miles before heading back, while my mates continued around Lake Lagunita for perhaps 3.5 miles. Later today, stepson John’s coming down (Fry’s run!), Friend Mary Bartlett’s in town, and there’s a reception after church for the Beatitudes [...]
A podcast classic?
So here’s yesterday’s podcast, where I start out talking about watering the garden, before considering outdoor fill flash photography. Perectly reasonable concatenation of themes, no? Heh, this may be a web classic in the making…
Kay’s roses
Sweet neighbor Kay, mother of Godson Nate, brought some of her roses over while I was making breakfast this morning, and as she was dashing (as usual) to a soccer game.
The roses have been especially good around here this spring and Kay’s carefully tended fleurs are no exception, as one can see in this photo. [...]
Watering
Cassie and I walked out to meet Linda on the return from her long Saturday Big Dish jog, getting in our 1.5 miles in the process. Back home we made breakfast - buttermilk blueberry pancakes (bad carbs, but they were so good for the reu-ion breakfast last weekend), with chicken-apple sausage and fruit.
Then it was [...]
Light, camera….
Full, busy week at work, and we pushed our new physical training regime as well. I’m very tired again tonight (’good tired’), and hoping to doing a little ‘noodling’ (’me’ time) before heading off to bed.
For the last couple of weeks I’d have been in bed already: but maybe our our stamina is back a [...]
The Digilux II fails
Our Leica Digilux II was quietly taking pictures like the one above (that’s Linda with her dad) until tonight. When my mobility et al. went south a couple weeks ago, I used the ‘opportunity’ to do house things like tuck cameras away (the Digilux II has a spiffy new hard case for a home).
Linda’s at [...]
Sun to help port OpenOffice.org to Mac
This is is cool: Sun will be helping develop a full Mac OS X-native version of OOo. There is already a version that runs on X11 on OS X, and it’s actually pretty useful, especially if you’re used to OpenOffice.org on Linux or BSD, and don’t mind the mental ‘contextual switching’ of interfaces as [...]
