Busy, busy weekend

With Linda out of town, I was looking forward to a laid-back weekend, but it just didn’t work out that way. I’d been hoping to noodle on the newly-reconfigured World HQ computers, and learn more about podcasting and making audio recordings.
The arrival of the new desk chairs put one dent in the game plan - I wanted to get them set up before the work week started - I’m just slower than I once was, and figured the chairs would sit until next weekend if I didn’t get them done. Unboxing, assembling and dragging out all the packaging, old chairs et al. took a couple hours.
Linda’s plane was delayed, so I did laundry, made dinner and other chores (so she wouldn’t have to) and attempted to make the bed (the new bed’s mattress is a bear for us steroid-limited types to lift). I also mulched and watered the garden, cleaned up gulker.com World HQ, restarted our Get Things Done program and a bunch of other things. Sheesh… I’m exhausted, but happy I got a lot done… so we’re finally sitting down to noodle at a computer…

Chris….I had to chuckle over your account of the stuff you were going to accomplish on your “bachelor” weekend….and didn’t. Don’t feel bad, I have this experience at least twice a year when Marjie goes off to music conferences and I have a whole week stretching before me…boy am I going to get stuff done! And then by the end of the week with “spouse return day” approaching, reality sets in. Watering plants: behind schedule. House maintenance: 3 projects overdue. That long deferred computer cleanup: not done. Didn’t watch any TV either. So where does the time go when our spouses are out of town? I propose a new scientific survey along the lines of searching for dark matter…it’s called “dark time”. Find it and we’ve got ourselves a Nobel prize. Better yet we’ve got wives pleased with our capabilities to mind the ranch while they are in the high pastures doing fun stuff.
BTW I understand from your blog that you and Linda experienced Taize Prayer at the origin in France. FYI, there is a very dynamic and powerful Taize Prayer service the first Friday of the month in the chapel at Mercy Center, Burlingame, at 8 PM. Get there early, it can be full. I can provide fuller directions if you are interested.
I’m the 10 O’clocker at Trinity who worked with Linda on the Parish Profile.

“Dark time” I love it! Perfect description…
Thanks for the Taizé tip… we may well make the journey…
