The Mirra chairs arrive

Mirra chairThe final upgrade to gulker.com’s World HQ is a pair of Herman Miller Mirra chairs. Not cheap (but cheaper than Aerons), they’re very comfortable (I’m sitting on one as I write). For the last 17 years I’ve been sitting on (and complaining about) the chair that was part of a set we bought John in grade school.

The hard part was unboxing the two chairs. Assembly required, but it’s fairly easy: attach seat back to seat bottom, install two bolts. The only trick is the instructions call for a torque wrench to tighten the bolts.

Like most homeowners, I have a cheap Chinese socket wrench set, but no torque wrench. My neighbor Rich works on his Mercedes a lot, so I’m hoping he has one. Meantime I’ve attached the bolts and minimally tightened them. The last thing I thought I’d need to assemble desk chairs… and, of course, there are copious instructions to adjust the Mirra to fit the user…
