Father’s day
Don’t have much blogging time this AM, but Father’s day was a lot of fun. Stepson John, wife Julie came over from the East Bay: first stop was brunch at Mike’s Cafe, in Ladera, which was excellent BTW. Their American-style omelettes, with innovative ingredients, are killer, BTW.
Gift of the day may well have been this […]
Gang rule
Linda and I watched the near-future thriller Children of Men last night, the DVD being a birthday gift from John and Julie. The premise is that it’s the year 2027, no human has been born for 18 years, and the world, including the UK, is a very chaotic place. Our protagonist is contacted by a […]
A walk and some garden work
We’re feeling pretty good this father’s day morning, so we walked Linda and Cassie down to San Francisquito Creek bridge, then came home and worked in the garden for about 45 minutes. We visited Ladera Nursery yesterday, and some peppers and tomatoes came home to replace the harvested lettuce. The garden has really been a […]
The garden report
Much news in the garden this AM, not the least of which being that it survived last Thursday afternoon’s 103 degree afternoon. Having lived on the Peninsula for 17 year now, I have to say, this Al Gore guy is on to something. Not only do temperatures rarely go over the high 70s in Menlo […]
UCSF day
Yesterday we spent most of the day at UCSF, our approximately monthly routine, getting an MRI and MRS, followed by a consult with our neuro-oncology team. During these events, depending on the tumor news, the next course of treatment is decided upon. As before, the tumor seems to be responding positively to Temador, a […]
Safari 3.0 review
There’s a good ‘first look’ review of Safari 3.0 on Mac and Windows on Macworld this PM. Still curious why the port to Windows….
The arugula bowl arrives
Linda’s arugula was planted this morning, thanks to a little extra time in the schedule, afforded by the decision to work from home today. The bowl on the right is filled with a mix of planting soil, chicken manure and mulch - hopefully a good home for the arugula.
It’s pretty densley planted - the thininnings […]
Breakfast in the jardin
Another pleasant morning, another petit dejeuner in the garden. I’ve got nice clothes on this AM (for a meeting) so I didn’t have a chance to get LInda’s arugula seeds in, but maybe we’ll get a break on fatigue this PM, and can get to that.
Still wobbly, but we got with our oncology nurses at […]
Can it be?
According to Macintouch, reporting from WWDC, the Finder, of all the ancient, crufty pieces of long-overdue-for-a-change pieces of Mac software, will be updated in Mac OS X 10.5 ‘Leopard.’ Spaces - multiple Finder desktops a la Linux - is another fave. Saints preserve us…
Breakfast in the garden
We’d rather be out walking a mile or so, but the steroids, I think, have produced a rather more wobbly me than I’d like as of this AM, so we opted for breakfast in the garden, instead. I really need the crew at UCSF to help me figure out a balance between enough steroids to […]
