Yikes... I was going through my old personal photos in their new home in Lightroom and tripped over this scan of my old press passes and other credentials. Oh dear: we may not be aging particularly gracefully. I’ve always thought I looked particularly foreign correspondent-ish in the long-gone San Francisco Newspaper Agency ID at the bottom.

BTW, the Lightroom upgrade is from iView Media Pro, since aquired by Microsoft and renamed Microsoft Expression Media. Microsoft sent me a free upgrade, actually 2 free upgrades - one for Mac OS X and the other for Win XP or Vista (there are 5 apps in the Expression suite - only 3 run on Mac OS X).

Can’t blame MS for trying, I guess, and Lightroom is cross-platform, too. But we’re sticking with an older 1.67 GHz single-core G5 and Mac OS X for the time being - Lightroom runs very nicely on this config.

Lightroom’s tools are more powerful and complete it appears to me - it’s both an archive and photo-processor in one app. iView served us well for a number of years, but Lightroom is the future for gulker.com’s photo archive (full disclosure: I work for Adobe)…
