TONY PERKINS

Tom ByersTony Perkins (above) and Tom Byers kicked off the Stanford Summit tonight. Tony Perkins talked about ‘discovery’ on the web, a space he describes as wide open.

He also talked about old and new media brands extending into old and new forms. Another topic was green tech which is the #3 category for VC money, according to Mr. Perkins.

Tony thinks VC is back, and going global. There’s a new generation of investment bankers, as well, also good news.

KPMG then announced the AO 100 list drawn from 600 nominations by VCs. Off to a good start….

‘Discovery’ on the web? Every nano-second. How to go from web public domain to protectable property that underlays investments in making new products?

Old and new media and forms? Old and new money looking for hot ideas and connections to do them.

Green tech? A huge market, especially in retrofitting for conservation. Re-wiring for distributed generation should be done to last for the duration of free fuel, but the costs . . .

Has VC ever not existed? The Guilds, Leagues, and Combines financing trading missions, civic and technical improvements, etc. back through the centuries.

KPMG AO 100 not on their site’s press page.
