Paperless journalism

Here’s Tony Perkins at the start of the Democratization of Media session on day 3 of the Stanford Summit, holding up a piece of paper. I came back from the summit with several pounds of handouts, press releases and very nicely printed-and-bound Summit documentation, all of which is now in my recycle bin.
I didn’t help things by printing out copies of the session schedules for my convenience: even more recycling. A PDF on my laptop would have carried the same data (even though there are moments that getting to a laptop is awkward, and paper is more convenient.) Nevertheless, I’m strategizing how to be a better and more paperless citizen journalist going forward. I’m already leaning on my Olympus WS-300M digital voice recorder as a primary note-taker…
