LaCie 500 GB USB Drive

Behringer C-41 MicSo, we’re getting geared up to begin podcasting in a more serious way (like we need something else to do). It is amazing how the prices of things like high-quality microphones, mixers et al have dropped in the past few years or so: a very good mic costs $45, a high-fidelity, low-noise mixer costs $35 and a digital voice recorder runs $80. Cables and cords can cost more than the components these days.

So we put together all the bits and pieces for a home audio studio - for about $200 - and added storage to our Core Duo Mini (which we thought would be a good workhorse for audio files). We brought lots of interviews and other recorded material home from the Stanford Summit, only to find that our Behringer C-41 Microphone, once we got it equipped with cord and pre-amp, was apparently DOA. No signal and, oddly, no documentation came from the vendor.

Then, last night we noticed our new LaCie 500 GB hard drive wasn’t showing up on the Core Duo’s desktop. The USB hub in it still works, but no drive. Darn… something else we’ll have to try to get a RMA for (I’ve long since tossed the shipping paperwork for both of these items unfortunately). Sigh…

I’ve been looking..,. there are lots of Amazon RMAs in the collection… searching on LaCie found the G4 mini’s LaCie drive, but I can’t remember where I bought the Core Duo’s version…
