
This artist’s conception shows the Orion spacecraft, foreground, approaching the International Space Station. Orion is remarkably like the Apollo system that took astronauts to the moon almost 40 years ago – it will even be launched from expendable rockets. The avionics will be new, it seats 6 on low earth missions, but does not seem to be a great leap forward in manned space operations, IMHO…
This just in: NASA probably won’t fix the gouge. There’s a risk a spacesuited astronaut could cause more damage by bumping into the tiles while trying to repair the gouge…
