Scott Loftesness
Scott Loftesness and I have exchanged blog links, comments and email for years, but have never met, despite living in the same town. A couple weeks ago, Scott pinged me and suggested we get together. His office is right by Menlo Train Station and the hip, busy Cafe Baronne.

I admitted I liked Ann’s - a Menlo coffee shop that’s been here for decades - at least as much as Baronne, so Scott picked me up in his very spiffy, new 43-mpg Honda Civic Hybrid, and off we went to Ann’s for omelettes, coffee and a good chat. Scott traded an 18-mpg Audi A6 for his Honda: I previously gave up a 14-mpg Land Rover for our Ford Escape Hybrid. We had lots to talk about.

Scott is a consultant with Glenbrook Partners, an epayments processing practice that seems to have made a very successful transition to the web. We talked about web services, Google apps, Amazon S3, Paypal and buying habits (we both just hit Amazon for a lot of the small necessities because its easy). We had fun… great to finally meet face to face…

    Chris,

Great fun to finally get together and compare notes!

I too am ready for the south of France (or, maybe, my other dream - Australia!).

    Best,
    Scott

[...] Scott Loftesness sent me a note saying he’d had the same ‘blue screen’ experience as I with his Leopard install, but had cured it just by forcing a restart. Worked for me, too…  [...]

[...] Sweet spouse Linda gave me a Kindle for Father’s Day - we’ve been spending the last 48 hours fiddling with it. Initially, I’m getting the NY Times and Wall St. Journal daily, and have a Kindle ‘Howto’ book. The ‘electronic ink’ display is amazing - and legible in just about any light. It’s very light - a bit over 10 ounces, and can be managed with one hand - a big plus for those of us with one gimpy side. I became interested in the Kindle after seeing friend Scott Loftesness with his at Cafe Barrone…  [...]

[...] We’re blogging by iPhone from Peet’s Coffee in downtown Menlo Park, after nearly completing a 1.6 mile circumnavigation of our small town. Cousin Kelly is in town, and we met her and the family at Ann’s coffee shop for breakfast. Her kids Will and Emily had fun with my Kindle while Kelly, husband Jim and I chatted. Fun morning… [...]
