Hollywood has conjured a vision of what abuses of this technology would be like….Balderunner and Alien come to mind.
As a former member of Military Intelligence I have follwed with no small amount of interest the developments in Nano-Technology, which was illustrated so well in parts of Minority Report. The military aspects of this technology are obvious.
Nano-Tech shows great promise in the treatment of diseases like cancer and there is an outfit in Pasadena called Arrowhead Research which is bringing nano-tech to the medical market.
I think that in sciences likes these, good political leadership is the key to safeguarding our population from abuses of technology.
As it happens, my neuro-oncologist is researching lipidic nanoparticles and will be starting clinical trials of same next year…
