
A couple times now I’ve noticed this display in the master bedroom as the afternoon sun slants briefly through the window. Last time I saw it, I went out to grab a camera from the family room, and the light was gone by the time I returned.
I’ve since noted this display only lasts for about 5 minutes – an ephemera of short duration – which so many are. It reminds me of the story behind Ansel Adams’ ‘Moonrise over Hernandez‘: by the time he’d shot one frame and flipped the film holder, the light had gone off the tombstones in the foreground: he only got one shot.
The digital camera handles faster than Monsieur Adam’s 8×10 plate camera, so I got a half-dozen shots, with different exposure and composition – hardly in the same league with ‘Moonrise’, but an interesting snap, IMHO. Kind of a notebook shot… something you see in passing…
