Back from Milwaukee

The Milwaukee trip was just great. I knew things were going to go well when we walked down to the hotel bar night 1 only to discover Giants announcers Mike Krukow and Dave Fleming. Linda, decked out in Giants orange said hi, and Mike jumped up, asked us if we had tickets and engaged us in a baseball conversation (I even had something to say). John Miller joined the group, and Linda, needless to say, was in seventh heaven.
The Giants were swept, losing the first game 13-4, but Linda had no end of fun showing up in the lobby when the team bus was coming and going. Meanwhile, college pal Greg Bird patiently took me on a (2 hour!) walking tour of downtown, showing me beautifully restored turn-of-the-century buildings and recounting reams of fascinating Wisconsin history.
Greg sent us off with two beautiful books: one a Milwaukee coffee-table edition, the other a catalog of the very nice photo exhibit at Milwaukee’s Art Museum. We also had a lovely dinner with Greg and wife Cheryl Kirchner (who’s headed off to France in a couple of months) at the Mason Street Grill, a real-deal American restaurant. The previous evening there, we spent 15 minutes talking to chef Mark Weber.
And, oh yeah, friends Cindy and Tony Sekura drove up from Chicago and we celebrated Cindy’s Birthday at Bacchus, another Milwaukee standout restaurant. And, of course, the Sausage Race at Miller Stadium was a big deal. Italian Sausage won it wire to wire, as pictured here…

Your pictures and stories are really entertaining. You probably don’t remember me, but I used to date John. This, of course, was after the “change.” But, well, he and you guys were always lots of fun. And that Cindy! She used to ask me a lot about my “journey,” because she felt that she might be in the wrong body, too. I just keep telling her, “Girl - you are all woman through and through!”
Anyway, give my best to Cindy and her horsies and to John and his new wife!
Love,
Cin
