The mountain groove

We spent most of the late morning driving in the mountains above St. Jorioz, after an early morning walk on the bike/pedestrian path that runs through the village. I walked for 90 minutes, moving fast by my standards and fell once, but was immediately helped up by 2 very nice French cyclistes, even before Linda could grab me. Twice now I’ve walked this distance, approximately 3 miles (a new post-steroid ‘record’), hoping to get up to 4 miles before we go home.
The mid-morning drive took us up to the Cret de Chatillon, a peak from which there were wonderful views toward Mont Blanc and the western Alps in one direction, as well as part of eastern France in the other. Lunch at La Barate in Col de Leschaux was authentic country cooking: rabbit, new potatoes and vegetables with a choice of salade paysanne or charcuterie of local manufacture. Photo, from the terrace of the Berko house, shows the mountains on the east side of Lac d’Annecy…

Looks beautiful. Hope you get the chance to go up in the mountains on the other side of the lake. And don’t forget that restaurant in Talloires!
Many, many thanks to your brother for the Annecy tip. This place is heaven…
