Nature trail in preserve at the south end of Lac d'Annecy

Linda and I spent an hour and twenty minutes this morning walking a nature trail in the Rosilliere preserve at the south end of Lac d’Annecy, a place supposedly celebrated for its beaver colonies. The path ran along the River Ire, a mountain stream whose floods were once so violent and unpredictable that local communities near its banks would hold festivals if they survived the rainy season.  A flood channel, built in the 1930s, has tamed the river, whose name means ‘anger’ in French as well as English. No beavers were sighted, but the walk was very pleasant…

Wonder if Kindle can tame the river.

Kindle doesn’t work wirelessly in France, but no idea about river-taming capabilities, unless the ‘Tame River’ option is buried in the sub menus somewhere….
