Our room at La Maison de Marc Veyrat

It’s been raining proverbial canines and felines today. Our last rainy day, Thursday, we had lunch at Ms. Laurence Salomon’s Nature et Saveur in Annecy as described by Linda. The four-course tasting menu was nothing short of excellent, and well worth a journey to experience.

A couple of hours ago, in hammering rain, we checked into La Maison de Marc Veyrat, a hotel and restaurant where M. Veyrat, in the vein of Ms. Salamon, also offers the best in local produce, but in a somewhat more luxe setting (see our bedroom, above). Indeed, M. Veyrat’s tasting menu offers nothing short of 18 courses.

Videos of M. Veyrat play in the hotel lounge showing him walking with children and a guide through the nature preserve au bout du Lac d’Annecy (where we hiked yesterday), uncovering wild herbs, roasting meat with herbs in a charcoal pit en pleine compagne, and later, back at the restaurant, whipping up some of his signature dishes. We look forward to this evening’s meal…
