Well, we’re starting the New Year by being late to the blog party, as it were. Somehow 5 days have alrready slipped past, despite a New Year’s resolution to be more disciplined about writing. The strange thing is I enjoy writing, editing, linking and preparing photos for the blog. It annoys me that I allow life’s other stuff to push blogging down on the to-do list.
Spouse Linda, busy in the normal extreme fashion of Silicon Valley, rarely misses a post on her blog, First Blush. I guess it’s the old axiom: if you want something done, ask a busy person to do it.
Not that we’re not busy with physical (and now, mental) rehab and the seemingly endless chores a good househusband attends to, because we are. Only someone who makes the weekly menu, cooks and does the dishes, shopping, laundry, recycling, small repairs and other necessaries on the to-do list can appreciate how consuming these ‘trivial’ tasks can be.
Our ‘to-do’ triumphs so far this year include walking faster on the treadmill and with Scott and Lily (we are now doing intervals in both cases) and getting AirTunes running, linking our iTunes libraries to the stereo (finally) and mastering a new, hearty-but-healthy dish, New Orleans cassoulet. Your spouse must be a terrible taskmaster – my condolences
I think she falls into the ‘normal female’ range in that particular category.
The ethic in our family, is that, if you’re not doing something, you should pick up the slack for others who are. Linda works full time, and I don’t (not my choice), so I’m on the house detail…
