We took Ms. Hubbard Gulker’s advice about the Media Box on this page, and did a quick hack to put some identifying information in close proximity to the photos, to make things a bit less confusing. We did warn readers that things could get a little weird while we’re installing a new look and feel.
We have been trying to get the Gulker Photo Archives off the ground for a couple years now. Everything from the time constraints of my old job to the battle with glioma to ever-changing Google policies on Google Pages, now Google Sites (basically, they ended SFTP access to one’s content) has not worked in my favor.
So, we’re putting a stake in the ground, or whatever the web equivalent is, and declaring that construction has commenced on what will be the real deal. It is so frustrating not making something happen… I hope I’m getting better at just getting things done… 9:51:10 AM
We’re off to New Orleans tomorrow, a birthday trip planned by my dear spouse. I’m looking forward to long walks, great food and some picture taking… 10:07:14 AM

Another by-the-way comment: heads up on an interesting obit in today’s Chron. For Jim Bellows, age 86, “…renowned editor who built a career resuscitating underdog big city newspapers from Los Angeles to New York…”. Did a tour on the LA Examiner. Perhaps you knew him? You can see this on SFGate.com under “obits”. I am meditating on career paths these days and why mine is over, or at least stuck, and read a lot of obits and find them miniature biographies, fascinating for the perspective they provide on the completed life arc of people I would have liked to meet because they had a lot to teach of life and its realized purpose. The future of newspapers bears on this particular life story as well. Have a great trip to N.O.
