Granddaughter Grace turned two today, a day that I am very pleased to have witnessed. Together with Linda and her parents, we traipsed around the very pretty Oakland Zoo, with some dozens of other toddler-to-elementary school children, their parents and teachers.
Grace has been the brightest (small) being in what have been the most trying years of my life. Grace is cheer, Grace is light, Grace is hope, and beside that she’s a sweet little girl. She smiled when she spotted her grandparents at the zoo’s entrance, and, again, later in the day, when she reached out to me, in complete confidence, as she tried to negotiate a particularly high curb, a circumstance that I have come to fully understand. Yes, we’re ga-ga about the granddaughter…

I feel the same way about my grandaughter. Amazing.
Funny how that works. Is your grandchild the brightest, cutest thing there ever was? Ours is!
I think the fact that you can just hand them back to mom at the end of the day makes them just that much more precious…
Someone told me that the reason that grandchildren and grandparents get along so well is that they have a common enemy.
And you should be ga-ga. She’s the bright light in your lives. In fact, she’s kind of a bright light in my life. She is a real cutie.
